چکیده

Equine embryos are traditionally transported in Ham’s F10, a culture medium that requires special handling (bubbling with a specific gas mixture) before it can be used for the conservation of equine embryos. Two media have been tested for the cooled storage of equine embryos (Emcare Holding Solution and Vigro Holding Plus) and appear to be suitable alternatives to Ham’s F10. These media offer the advantage that they are ready-for-use products with a relative long shelf life. An analysis of Selected Aspects of Sperm Quality in Fresh and Cooled-Storage Stallion Semen

This review summarises the most significant findings related to the issue of the quantitative and qualitative indicators of stallion ejaculates, its processing when producing chilled insemination doses and the possibility of influencing the individual steps of the entire process. Artificial insemination, with cooled-storage semen, is increasingly used in horse breeding because it offers many ad...

Evaluating the suitability of cryopreservation solutions for common carp (Cyprinus carpio) embryos stored at -2 °C

In the present study, cryopreservation of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) embryos was studied using a stepwise cooling protocol. Embryos at heartbeat stage were selected, placed in 15- ml plastic tubes and stored at -2 °C for 1, 7, 14, and 21 days in 2 different cryopreservation solutions: S1 (methanol + dimethyl sulfoxide + sucrose) and S2 (methanol + propylene glycol + sucrose). Embryo viabilit...

Effect of cooling, storage, glycerolization and spermatozoal numbers on equine fertility.

The effects of cooling, storage, glycerolization and spermatozoal numbers on fertility were investigated utilizing three stallions and 72 mares. Semen was extended in a cream-gel extender and inseminated: a) within 1 hr (fresh) at 38 C, b) after cooling for 2 hr to 5 C, c) after cooling for 2 hr plus the addition of 7% (v/v) glycerol, and d) after cooling for 24 hours. Onehalf of the mares were...

Effects of storage duration at 5 ºC and type of cryoprotectant on cooled and frozen-thawed ram epididymal spermatozoa

Freezing of ejaculated and epididymal spermatozoa is currently a subject of interest with the purpose of establishing an efficient gene banking model for valuable animals or endangered species. Therefore, the present study evaluated the influence of different storage duration )0, 1.5 and 5 h) at 5 ºC and type of cryoprotectant on freezability of ram epididymal spermatozoa. With increasing the s...

Developmental rates of in vivo and in vitro produced bovine embryos cryopreserved in ethylene glycol based solutions by slow freezing or solid surface vitrification

The aim of this study was to compare in vitro survival rates of in vivo and in vitro-produced bovine embryos by slow freezing or solid surface vitrification. In vivo-produced blastocysts (n = 210) and in vitroproduced blastocysts (n = 445) were randomly allocated in two cryopreservation groups. Group 1 embryos were exposed to 1.5 M ethylene glycol (EG) for 5 min, loaded in 0.5 ml straws, frozen...
